Message from the Owner / Operator

Welcome! I’m Stephen Chestnut, the Owner/Operator of Chick-fil-A Hamilton & Wesley in Sioux City. It’s an honor for my wife, Emily, and me to serve this incredible community and to lead a restaurant that’s built on care, hospitality, and a commitment to excellence. At Chick-fil-A, we believe in more than just serving delicious food — we believe in serving people. Our goal is to create a place where everyone feels welcome, respected, and appreciated, whether you're dining with us or part of the team. We’re proud to support schools, partner with local organizations, and invest in the lives of those across Sioux City and the greater Siouxland area. This is a community full of heart, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve, grow, and make a lasting impact right here at home.

How did Chick-fil-A get its start?

Our founder S. Truett Cathy started a small business in 1946, The Dwarf Grill, with his brother Ben in Atlanta. Through the years, that restaurant prospered and led Truett to further the success of his business. In 1967, Truett founded and opened the first Chick-fil-A restaurant in Atlanta’s Greenbriar Shopping Center. Truett’s family has continued his tradition of leadership, including his son Dan, who was appointed as the company’s CEO in 2013, and grandson Andrew, who serves as the current Chick-fil-A CEO.

Speaking of Sundays…

Our founder, S. Truett Cathy, made the decision to close on Sundays in 1946. He knew what it was like to work seven days a week in restaurants, so he saw the importance of letting his employees set aside one day to rest and worship if they choose. That’s a practice we still uphold today.
